I've been searching for a high quality board without margin or trim which fits a chess set with 4" King. The two inch square fits perfectly to the black and white chess pieces with just enough margin showing to the sides of each piece. The board back and sides are stained black and varnished to protect. It does not have felt backing. If backing is important I would suggest felt stick tabs beneath corners of the board. Great value for the money. A+++
