Comprehensive Chess Endings

This is a "must have" chess program for the studying of endgame theory. The material found here is presented to you by the world-renowned endgame theoretician GM Yuri Averbakh.

The program includes 4,143 theoretically important games and examples, all thoroughly analyzed and classified into 300 different themes, based on the print edition of Comprehensive Chess Endings.

First, all of the chess material was completely scrutinized by leading chess playing programs, using the endgame table bases, insuring complete accuracy. Next, it was deeply expanded and revised by GM Yuri Averbakh. This notable work contributed to revised evaluations of many important theoretical chess endings.

The computer evaluations and variations are given for every move within games and examples. The games from the modern practice are given, where the questionable position occurred.

Comprehensive Chess Endings also includes the chess  playing program Crafty and the powerful searching system Chess Assistant Light which allow you to:

Nalimov Endgame Tablebases

The Nalimov DVD includes the most complete version of the 3-4-5 piece Nalimov endgame tablebases (290 files). The tablebases will tell you exactly how to play out any position once five or less pieces are left on the board.

This is high-powered instruction for analyzing endgames with a small number of pieces. The program will tell you whether the position is won, lost, or drawn, and how many moves it will take to win or draw, assuming best play by both sides.

You can use the tablebases while viewing games, analyzing, or playing against a computer. Supplied with the tablebases, the playing programs are infallible in the late endgame, because they begin to use variations and evaluations from the tablebases as soon as a position available in them arises on the board. Thus the program's playing strength is greatly increased. To speed up access to the tablebases, you should install them on your hard disk. If you want to have the 3-4-5 tablebases available on your hard disk, note that they occupy 7.5 GB. This is serious analysis!
