Chess pieces in the "Staunton" design have been the official tournament standard since the mid-19th century. For traditionalists who desire the Staunton design for club or tournament play, but require both quality and affordability, we present our Deluxe Staunton chessmen. These wooden pieces are felted and weighted, carved from Hornbeam wood, and meet all official tournament size specifications.

 

The Deluxe Staunton chess pieces are hand-crafted in the Carpathian mountains of Europe, and are comparable in quality to sets which are several times more expensive. The felted and compartmented wooden case with ornate clasp is made Birch, and will keep your pieces safe and snug as you travel between tournaments.
