My wife just got me this kit for xmas and its great, with just a few minor knocks against it.
The bag is sturdy and the set has a nice heft to it. Everything (set, board and clock) fits nicely, if a bit tight.
The clock is held in place by two straps over its body top to bottom and a "wrap" that envelopes it from left to right.
The board has two straps to secure it in place.
The pieces came in two plastic bags and have a two-zippered compartment to fit them into. The zippers are small, so I've been careful to make sure the pieces don't pack in with any hard protrusions since that could pop a zipper if it were to be forced shut. With care, I'm sure the zippers will hold up fine.
The pouch intended for the score pad is a little too tight for the pad my wife got from Chess Central (5/5" x 8/5") , but I can just lay it in the bag and it's okay.
I would give this as a gift and will purchase at least the bag for my daughter (she already has a set and vinyl board).

This is a very nice set. Much higher quality than I was expecting for the price. I did, however, upgrade to the 'mouse pad' chess board because it will always lay flat no matter how long it stays rolled in the case. Highly recommended.
