Jaques of London Fischer-Spassky Chess Pieces

In 1972, Robert James "Bobby" Fischer and Boris Spassky battled for the World Chess Championship in the most widely followed match in the history of Chess. Despite a disastrous start, where he lost the first 2 games, Bobby Fischer fought his way back and decisively defeated Spassky by a final score of 12.5 - 8.5, single-handedly ending the Russian dominance of Chess.
While the match itself is well known, what isn't so well known is that the Chessmen that were used during the match were produced by the legendary Jaques of London. We are proud to offer to you these historically important Chessmen.
The full Tournament-size King stands 3.75" tall with a 1.625"diameter base. Each piece is very heavily weighted and is felted. The white King is marked "Jaques London" and the King's Rook and King's Knight bear the mark of a crown on their summits. The visual impact of each piece is striking, combining both robustness and grace. From the crisp but sturdy crenels of the Queen's coronet to the exquisite hand-crafted two-piece Knight, this is one of the Firm's finest creations.
Even the King's Formée cross finial is accurately detailed and can be easily removed for later replacement should it become the victim some unfortunate accident.
