Mega Database 2010
The exclusive ChessBase "flagship" annotated database. This DVD contains more than 4,500,000 games from 1560 to 2010 in the highest ChessBase quality standard. 62,000 games contain commentary from top players, and all games are grouped in the ChessBase opening classification key, containing more than 100,000 key positions. Other keys give direct access to players, tournaments, middlegame themes, and endgames. Here you get the largest top class annotated database in the world, with games up to date through the middle of November 2009.
Mega 2010 also features a new edition of the playerbase. As usual, this is where most of the work was done. As the player index now contains already more than 220,000 entries, it made sense to use an adapted playerbase which includes about 248,000 names. Doing this, the photo database was extended as well to currently contain 31,000 pictures.
All 4.5 million games in the Mega Database 2010 have been fully classified, not only from ECO codes A to E according to their openings, but also according to strategic themes, endgames and tactical motifs. Over 65,000 games which are theoretically important for the opening or historically significant have also been provided with annotations by international title holders and make the Mega Database 2010 the largest annotated chess database. Why is 12...a6 no longer played in the Dragon, why do the top players meet the Grünfeld nowadays with 5.Bd2, and what is the significance of 5.c5 against the Slav with 4…a6? With the help of Mega Database you will have a much better understanding of your own opening moves and you will learn new openings much faster.
