A Bit of History
Gaius Julius Caesar was the military and political leader of Roman Empire. In 49 B.C. Caesar brought civil war to Rome and emerged as the victorious Dictator and leader of the Roman world. He strengthened the Roman Empire by conquering Gaul (now known as France), Spain and then Britain. Caesar then returned to Rome where he was assassinated on the Ides of March in 44 B.C.
Alexander the Great succeeded his father to the throne of Macedon in 336 B.C. after his father was assassinated. Macedon, now known as Greece, had united most of the Greek city-states when Alexander came to power at the young age of 20. Alexander went on to conquer the Persian Empire in a 10 year campaign. He died in Babylon in 323 B.C. Alexander become legendary as a classical hero and is featured prominently in Greek culture.
