Elite Rosewood and Maple Chess Board with 2.375" Squares
ChessCentral's Elite Rosewood and Mapled chess board is an outstanding choice! The striking linear grain of the Rosewood aligns beautifully with the subtle Maple grain. The playing area is set off from the Rosewood trim (approximately 1.5" wide) by an elegant black inlay to provide depth.
Naturally, Rosewood & Boxwood pieces such as the Heritage or the Templar meld beautifully with this board. Alternatively, pair this board with true Ebony pieces such as the Heritage or Templar to achieve a striking contrast.
The entire chess board is sealed in a beautiful polyurethane satin finish. The chess board comes packaged in a poly bag and cardboard box to protect the chess board surface.
Rosewood is fairly difficult to carve and work by hand. The color range of this wood goes from a rose to dark brown color with even darker lines. The crossed, narrowly interlocked grain, with the combinations of darker streaks gives the wood a very striking appearance. The grain can vary considerably creating a beautiful blend of colors and unique patterns. The beautiful colors combined with moderate pricing makes Rosewood the most popular wood used for chess sets and boards today.
For chess boards the white squares are usually made from bird’s-eye or curly maple. The color is creamy white to grayish white. It is a moderately hard and strong with light to very heavy patterns running perpendicular to normal grain orientation. Both bird’s-eye and curly maple are perfect woods for both elegance and durability.
Featuring 2 and 3/8 inch squares, moulded edges, and a black inlay. |
