Main Features

Smart Playback
Smart Chess Viewer automatically replays the entire game, including all variations, with no need for keyboard or mouse. When the program encounters variations (sub-lines) the program will enter it smoothly and, after presenting the variation, return to the game's main line. Seemingly without effort, Smart Chess Viewer will play over games and variations - even complex "trees" of variations with multiple sub-notes. In addition, this program offers the option of changing board colors upon entering a variation, to help visually separate main lines from notes.

Backtrack
This optional feature allows the user to watch a variation in reverse, as Smart Chess Viewer "backtracks" through a line while returning to the initial position. This feature is especially helpful if a new or inexperienced player has trouble switching his attention rapidly from the final position of a variation to the parent position. Backtrack provides a comfortable way of returning to the original line without losing the thread of what's happening in the game.

Accelerated Game Start
Some users may want to replay the first moves of a game collection at higher speeds, for example the first 8 moves of a familiar opening. This optional feature allows you to set user-defined speeds for two move intervals, by default for moves 1-5 and 6-10. Beyond these intervals the replay of the game continues at your normally selected speed.

Animated Comments
Smart Chess Viewer allows you to comment a game in the most effective way possible, by using visual representation. Visual commentary is far more instructional than audio or text - the ideas are perceived directly without the brain having to first process speech or text. With Smart Chess Viewer you can highlight strong and weak points, color zones of influence, highlight pieces, draw colored arrows (they will flash to draw the user's attention) and show animated ideas like a highlighted piece moving to its destination square. Smart Chess Viewer lets you to embed these graphical comments directly into the .pgn file, allowing the user to save his annotations for later replay.

Evaluation Bar
Next to the chess board a moving evaluation bar reacts to any change in the assessment of a position. Any evaluation symbols present in the game score (such as +/=, -+, ~, etc.) causes a movement in the Evaluation Bar, allowing you to focus on the chess board itself. No need to look for and interpret these critical marks in the game text!

Color & Time Management
All colors used for the board, pieces, commentary and timers can be set according to your taste and preference. For example, you may want red to indicate weakness and green to stand for strength, or you might like a faster (or slower) automatic playback - with Smart Chess Viewer it's up to you!
