Subtitled "My Best Sveshnikovs" this book was written by Tamas Horvath, after some deliberation, to celebrate his own fiftieth birthday! He has been playing the Sveshnikov Sicilian for 30 years and has previously co-written a book with GM Adorjan on the opening. The 40 games here are arranged so that similar variations are together rather than following the author's life chronologically and all are annotated by Horvath so that the possibilities at each move are explored clearly. This style of presentation may appeal to some readers more than a dry text book as it is possible to see the opening and the rest of the game through the eyes of a strong master rather than simply having lists of variations presented. A few of the final games examine 4..e5 (Kalashnikov System) which the author has recently tried.
