Other Chess Openings

A flank opening is played by White and characterized by play on one or both flanks which is considered the portion of the chessboard outside the central  files). White plays attacking the center from the flanks with chess pieces rather than occupying it with pawns. These openings are played often, and 1.Nf3 and 1.c4 trail only 1.e4 and 1.d4 in popularity as opening moves. Here we have "Other" chess openings, games in which 1.e4 or 1.d4 are eschewed in favor of alternate plans of development. These chess openings include the popular English Opening, the positional Reti Opening - as well as experimental and "off beat" openings. There is much room for creativity in the Flank Openings! Also find general opening e-books, like the excellent manual by Cunningham.
