Improve Your Chess with the Right Chess Moves:
Control the Center of the Chess Board
Example 3
1.e4 e5
Both players try to take control of the center
2.d4
The Center Game. White tries to control the center right away
2...exd4 3.Qxd4
Usually it is not good to get the queen out early in the center. It is better to control the center with the pawns and minor pieces
3...Nc6
Black controls part of the center with his knight as he develops it with a threat
4.Qe3
Not 4.Qc3?? Bb4, winning the Queen
4...Nf6
Black controls the center with his knights
5.Bc4
Trying to control the center while developing a piece. White could also gain more control of the center with 5.Nc3 or 5.e5
5...Ne5
Threatening the bishop and still controlling the center with the knights.
6.Bb3
White wants to stay on the diagonal with the most space and threats
6...Bb4+
Black is completing his development of his pieces
7.c3
White could also play 7.Bd2
7...Bc5!
Black still controls the center with his pieces and now threatens the Queen which may have been developed too early
8.Qg3?
Best was 8.Qe2 to avoid the knight fork. Not 8.Qxc5?? Nd3+ forking King and Queen. Watch out for the queen and king to be on the same colored square when an enemy knight is around that could fork the both
8...Bxf2+!
9.Qxf2 Nd3+,
Forking the queen and king.
