Pocket Fritz is a chess playing software program that runs on the latest Windows CE
handheld computers. It was first introduced to an enthusiastic public in June,
at the Mainz chess classics, where it actually played four games against Michael
Adams and Peter Leko. Now ChessBase has finally released this exciting new

With Pocket Fritz you can play chess on your Pocket PC anywhere and anytime you like. Or you can take a quick look at opening variations on your way to a tournament. Or check out the most recent games of your opponent. Pocket Fritz is the chess master in your shirt pocket. It may be small in size, but its playing strength is gigantic. It even got a draw in the match against the world class GMs Michael Adams and Peter Leko at the Chess Classic in Mainz 2001. Its performance rating was Elo 2505. However, if you really set your mind to it, you can still beat Pocket Fritz. In case you make a terrible blunder, the built-in coach will help you. Or you can pick up the latest tactics lessons from the Internet and solve the problems on your way to work or school. Pocket Fritz can do much more. For example it will analyze games with you and save them in a database. What's more, if you connect your Pocket PC to the Internet (e.g. through a mobile phone) you have full access to the giant ChessBase Online Database which contains almost two million games. Pocket Fritz 2 is a chess partner with mobility built in. Take it with you wherever you go and leave boredom behind. Pocket Fritz 2 is much stronger than its predecessor and has an estimated blitz performance rating of 2450 Elo points. The younger brother of the world’s strongest chess program has made great strides in the area of design, functionality and user friendliness. New pieces and board colours, formatted, colour-coded notation, all contribute to optimum clarity, even in deeply annotated games. The moves of the computer as well as hints and threats are displayed with colored arrows.
Pocket Fritz 2 has many diverse playing levels that make it an entertaining opponent, while the database functions and new commentary options fulfill the needs of even strong professional players. The program gives you mobile access to the ChessBase Online database with well over two million games. There you can search for the games of specific players, tournaments or openings.
