Encyclopedia of Middlegame 1-4

Convekta

$99.95

This is a unique set of programs produced on 4 CDs - a "combo" of four chess programs about the middlegame in chess, covering the theory and practice of the middlegame for each of the openings. This collection offers the Encyclopedia of the Middlegame I - IV (4 CDs!) in one handy kit. A complete one stop middlegame resource!

Each of the four programs includes detailed theoretical material for the corresponding openings and variations, positions for solving and special learning positions to play against with the built-in game engine. In the four programs you'll find detailed material on the theory and practice of playing key middlegame positions arising from the following openings: Ruy Lopez, Two Knights' defense, King's gambit, Italian game, Evans gambit, Scotch, Petroff defense, Sicilian defense, French defense, Caro-Kann defense, Scandinavian defense, Pirc-Ufimtsev, Alekhine's defense, Queen's-Indian defense, Queen's gambit, Queen's Gambit Accepted, Slav defense, Modern Benoni, Gruenfeld defense, English defense, King's Indian defense, Nimzo-Indian defense, Reti opening, Old Indian defense, Catalan, Benko Gambit, and more!

In total this Chess Middlegame Collection includes:

  • 2,300 games/lectures prepared by GM Alexander Kalinin
  • more than 2,600 exercises to solve
  • more than 1,000 training positions to be played against the built-in chess playing program Crafty

Within each theme the complexity of the exercises advances from beginner to advanced chess player. Individual ratings are calculated on the basis of the user's performance and statistics are gathered for each user. When studying each theme step by step, you can master all the methods and improve your play drastically. Multiple user profiles are featured with independent ratings and statistics for each. Printing options are also available.

English and Spanish version are available.

Encyclopedia of Middlegame
Volumes I

This program is designed by GM Alexander Kalinin to help the student understand the ideas and strategies behind typical middlegame positions according to the openings they originate from. Intended for stronger players. Having no analogues among chess programs Middlegame I contains detailed material on two courses:

1. Typical Pawn Structures (Karlsbad, Hedgehog, etc.)

2. Typical Plans and Methods in the Most Popular Openings (Scotch, Sicilian, Ruy Lopez, Caro-Kann, French, English opening, Dutch, Slav, Catalan, Nimzo-Indian, King’s Indian, Gruenfeld, Benko Gambit).

You get training material with more than 600 examples subdivided into themes according to typical methods and ideas of playing. The program contains about 1,000 exercises found in real games (the most important moves to be found by you). If you make the wrong move, you get help in the form of alternative moves and prompting markers. At any moment you can call an external chess playing program (Hiarcs, Genius, Rebel, MChess Pro).

Features of the program include:

  • More than 1,000 exercises for solving.
  • Numerous text and visual hints to help the student find the solution.
  • About 400 typical positions for playing against internal playing engines Dragon and Crafty, or other supported external programs such as Rebel, Mchess, etc.
  • ELO and statistics in easy-to-read bar graphs, based on the students' success rate with the exercises, that help them to keep track of their progress. ELO and statistics can be estimated for each other. Statistics is presented in a convenient graphic form.
  • Multiple user profiles are possible, with independent ratings and all other individual information.
  • Good for teachers: keeps track of the time and score of each position for each student.
  • Several languages supported: English, French, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish.
  • No additional software is required.
