A New Black Repertoire with 1...d6
by IM Andrew Martin

On this 2-video set IM Andrew Martin offers two separate and complete repertoires for Black, based on the flexible 1...d6 in answer to White's first move. After 1.e4 d6 2.d4 Nf6 3.Nc3 Black answers 3...e5 with a variation of Philidor's Defense; or if 1.d4 d6 2.c4 Nf6 3.Nc3 Black has 3...Bf5 with the Old Indian - either way you're covered! Each system leads to complex games suitable for winning chess. Here's what you get:

Foxy Chess Openings, Vol. 181 - A New Black Repertoire with 1…d6 (Part 1)

After 1.e4 d6 2.d4 Nf6 3.Nc3, Black enters the Philidor by playing 3…e5 next, the Antoshin Variation!

It has been quite some time since the original Foxy Opening videos about 1...d6 were recorded. It is time for an update! More than that actually, as in this all new 2-DVD series, FIDE Senior Trainer Andrew Martin maps out an interesting repertoire for Black which is completely independent of the earlier works.

On this video (Part One), he recommends the move order 1.e4 d6 2.d4 Nf6, with the intention of entering a Philidor via 3...e5. The Antoshin Variation is the main focus. Played regularly by Super GM Fabiano Caruana, the Antoshin Variation will give you a seldom seen surprise repertoire turning the tables on a booked up White opponent, leaving you with all the clear plans how to proceed.

Foxy Chess Openings, Vol. 182 - A New Black Repertoire with 1…d6 (Part 2)

After 1.d4 d6 2.c4 Nf6 3.Nc3, Black enters the Old Indian by playing 3…Bf5 next, as championed by GM Fabiano Caruana!

On this video (Part Two), he deals with an unusual and very promising line of the Old Indian that has been advocated by Super Grandmaster Fabiano Caruana, 3…Bf5!, which leads to very exciting and sharp play.

Enjoy this new expedition into the varied world of 1...d6.
